It has been shown in schools in Uganda that via the simple expedient of giving each child a slate and chalk (and training the teachers to teach children having access to slates) the achievements of the schools went up considerably (more than 10% compared with schools using traditional methods in ‘P4 standard tests’. Also attendance went up (the children being more motivated and more involved in the learning process).
Emilie’s Charities paid for 5,000 writing slates to be used in schools in the Kasese district of Western Uganda.

Emilie’s Charities is sponsoring three orphaned children in a home in Kyemula. We are also sponsoring a boy at the local school and are supporting two young ladies, one of whom is studying Information Technology and the other Education. They are both at Livingstone International University in Mbale.
