Emilie’s Charities has sponsored the higher education of ten youngsters from very poor families from the small Andean villages of Salinas de Guaranda and Chugchilan. Three students have graduated to date: one with a tourism degree, another with a language degree and a third with an Agriculture degree. The last-mentioned is starting a Masters this year. A third student has has completed the first part of his medical degree and is doing a placement year in a remote part of Ecuador. The others are at various stages of their courses.
