Emilie’s Charities has sponsored the higher education of ten youngsters from very poor families from the small Andean villages of Salinas de Guaranda and Chugchilan. Four students have graduated to date: one with a Tourism degree, two with Language degrees and a third with an Agriculture degree. The last-mentioned has started a Masters in the subject. A fifth student has has completed the first part of his medical degree and has carried out placements in a remote parts of Ecuador. The others are at various stages of their courses.
